"Since time immemorial, human nature has been at war with nature.

We have conquered every life form, we have diminished the rich diversity of creatures and destroyed many of their habitats.

In the 'arrogance of our ignorance' we have cast aside the laws of the universe and altered the nature of things."

There is only one World of Water; it connects every life force on the entire planet. We cannot in any way, shape or form ever begin to understand this vast unknown part of our everyday existence by standing at a distance and throwing rocks, or by sticking pins into it to see if it's alive. Nor can we hope to evaluate the sea and its contents by remote control robots.

We must go down and see for ourselves. We must study and observe the creatures and their relationships within the total overall balance of life, as we know it. It must be realized that the land, the air and the sea are all one global system, all related, all connected, all interdependent and all-important.

World of Water

As humans we have to stand up and fight for nature,
as well as we did against it!

WE MUST! Because NATURE is all we have!

The only thing that will enable humans to cure nature's ills is our ability to
EXPLORE the problems we have created, and DISCOVER the solutions.

Being aware is the first step, altering our attitudes the second ....

After all ... "What's a mind, if it can't be changed?"

To me, a diver, being a naturalist, photographer, scientist,
observer or adventurer, is an explorer.
Scuba diving is the greatest adventure activity on the planet.

GBR/ScubaDiver

"The World of Water means many things to many people.
For me it's exciting, adventurous and enjoyable.
The more we explore and understand, the more mindful we all become of the need
to protect it as a valuable asset for future generations."

EXPLORATION

Webster's dictionary states that "Exploration" means to travel in, or voyage through
(an unknown, or little known region) in order to add to human knowledge
to conduct a search.
So in essence, every time we conduct a search, every time we try, every time we endeavour, every time we learn something, we are EXPLORING...

DiversCave

It doesn't matter if we are exploring at the ends of the earth,
underwater, in the backyard, through a textbook, watching a documentary, or on the Web.

As EXPLORERS we DISCOVER things.

DISCOVERY

Once again if we refer to the dictionary, it states that discovery means: to find out, to discover the facts by EXPLORATION.

What have we DISCOVERED?

We have DISCOVERED that the greatest and most exciting adventure we can ever have in life is LEARNING, because learning makes EXPLORERS of all of us.
However, in order to DISCOVER and understand the world,
we must first DISCOVER and understand ourselves

Reefwalking

"I believe that by taking good care of nature we are in essence taking good care of ourselves.
In order to take good care of nature, we must understand nature.
We need more people dedicated to that understanding.

"Each life force has the power of its being, but the power of human being, is only achieved,
by the power of believing."(N.C)

THE FUTURE

We need a new generation of naturalists to explore, observe, study, compile and publish what's around us. We need to bring about a new awareness and fill our lives with the magic excitement of knowing.

Underwater education is still in its infancy; it offers the opportunity for like-minded people to not only share in adventure activities, but to take part in the discovery and documentation of our underwater wildlife's every existence.

Students

So little is known and there are so much to learn and record in the field of marine natural history that every critter must be considered as important and worthy of recording and reporting.

Pyuridae

The only real treasure is living treasure, and we are custodians of the richest treasure trove in the universe - life!

Knowledge is like a flight of steps through the evolution of time.
We cannot begin to climb unless someone, somewhere takes the first step.
Others come along at later stages and using the first step they add their own knowledge to build another step.
And so it goes on.

Melibe

The future of the world of water depends entirely
on the world of humans.

Unless we accept the responsibility and endeavour to
change our attitudes towards its welfare today,
the children of tomorrow will only mirror our ignorance.

They deserve a better inheritance - after all, they have to live with,
and attempt to correct our mistakes.

They can only do this if we give them a legacy worthy of their belief.
